God speaks. God clearly says that if we want to receive the remission of sin while living the life of faith, we must not do it by the law; by the law we cannot obtain salvation. Looking at today’s passage, Jesus, on His way from Judea to Galilee, needed to go through Samaria, and so He came to a town of Samaria called Sychar. That place was near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph, and Jacob’s well was also there. Jesus, wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well, and it was about the sixth hour. While passing through Samaria, Jesus plopped down at the small well of a town called Sychar. Having walked a long way, He must have been very tired in body.
