Today we have read this passage of John chapter 5. This afternoon I intend to preach the gospel. The gospel is precious. Just as air is truly precious, yet because it is so common people do not well know how precious air is, so this gospel is truly precious, yet people do not really feel how precious the gospel is. It is because it is so precious. But just as a person dies if he does not breathe the air, so if people do not believe in this gospel, they perish. That is why the righteous of this earth must preach the gospel. There are also some who have come new today; I welcome you. It is being fulfilled according to the promise of that word which says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household” (Acts 16:31).
